That's right—this year Geist turned 30! That's a big milestone for a magazine that started out as a small newsprint publication in the founders' living room.
Over the past 30 years we've published more than 2000 pieces of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, photography and other less classifiable material. More than 300,000 print and digital copies of the magazine have been mailed and beamed to readers all over the world. Thousands of writing and publishing students across Canada have received free copies of Geist to help with their studies. And most importantly, we’ve worked with some 1,500 writers and artists, providing them with editorial support, finding new audiences for them, and, right from day one, paying them some of the highest contributor rates among cultural magazines in the country.
