Calling all writers and wordsmiths—we are accepting submissions for The 19th Annual Geist Literal Literary Postcard Story Contest!

Writing Tips:

1. When writing your story, make sure there’s a clear connection between the image and the writing. Fact or fiction (or a mix of both) are all allowed.


2. If you’re not sure where to look for a postcard, you can make your own or visit copyright-free image sources like Wikimedia Commons or Unsplash.


3. Read previous winners to get inspired! Some recent winners include “Velvet Deathtrap,” “Genuine Person,” and “Who Loves the Vegas Minotaur.” Read more pieces on our website.

Deadline: May 20, 2024 at 11:59PM PDT.

Winning entries get cash prizes and publication in Geist, so dig through your drawers and find a postcard that inspires the micro-lit writer in you.
